A Bitly QR code alternative: unlimited codes, bulk on every plan
TangoQR is a Bitly alternative for people who run many QR codes. No plan has a monthly code allowance. Make up to 1,000 codes at a time from a spreadsheet, change where they point after they're printed, and get the scans out as a CSV or through the API. All of that is on every plan, free included.
The price comes second: free to start, with each code editable for its first 50 scans, and $10 a month for Pro, which lifts that on every code.
Bitly is a capable link-management platform. But if what you actually need is QR codes you can change after they're printed, a full platform with team seats is a lot of product, and a lot of price, to buy. TangoQR does that one thing, from a free plan up.
At a glance
| TangoQR | Bitly | |
|---|---|---|
| After you stop paying | Every code keeps redirecting to its last link | bit.ly codes keep working; codes on a custom domain depend on that domain |
| Changing a destination | No monthly limit on Pro; free per code for its first 50 scans | Paid plans, with a monthly limit; not on the free plan |
| Free plan | Unlimited codes; full analytics per code for its first 50 scans | A small monthly code allowance |
| Many codes at once | Up to 1,000 per batch from a list or a CSV, on every plan | On higher paid plans, within a monthly code allowance |
Where Bitly is a fair choice
Where Bitly is a fair choice. Bitly is a mature link-management product with deep campaign tooling: UTM building, A/B testing, branded domains, integrations with marketing platforms, and team workspaces. If you're a marketing team running link analytics at scale across many channels, that breadth is real and Bitly earns its place.
And on the question that matters most for anything printed, Bitly is sound. As of 19 October 2026, its help center says its QR codes never expire, and a code keeps working unless you delete it or its short link. We say so because it's true, and because the full answer is more useful than a scare. Check Bitly's help center for the current details.
Where it falls short for this job
For the "I printed a QR code and the link changed" job, a few things commonly bite:
- Changing a printed code is a paid feature. Bitly's help center says you can change a code's destination (Bitly calls it a redirect) on its paid plans, each plan sets a monthly limit, and its pricing doesn't include redirects on the free plan. If you printed a code in order to change it later, that is the one thing you want unmetered. On TangoQR Pro there's no monthly limit on changes; on free, each code's link can be changed for its first 50 scans, and the code keeps working after that.
- Codes are counted by the month. Bitly's plans cap how many QR codes you can make each month. TangoQR has no cap on codes, on either plan: the free plan is unlimited codes, with full editing and detailed analytics for each code's first 50 scans.
- Two Bitly products, two answers. QRCG by Bitly (qr-code-generator.com) is a separate Bitly product with separate accounts. As of 19 October 2026, its help center says dynamic codes made on its free trial are switched off when the trial ends, and codes can't move between the two products. If a "Bitly" code of yours stopped, check which one made it.
- Bulk creation is a paid feature. Bitly lists bulk link and QR code creation on its higher paid plans, not on its free or entry plan. See their pricing for the plan and its monthly code allowance. On TangoQR, bulk creation is on every plan: up to 1,000 codes from a pasted list or a CSV, each one still editable after printing.
- It's a platform, not a single tool. Most of Bitly's surface area is aimed at marketing teams. If you want one code you can change later, you're navigating a lot you won't use.
How TangoQR is different
TangoQR is built around one promise: every code, free or paid, is a redirect you control, and we never switch it off to make you pay. It keeps redirecting if you never pay, and if you pay and then cancel. You change where it points after printing, with no reprint: free for each code's first 50 scans, with no monthly limit on Pro. No trial, no team seats, no sales call, and no account to create before your first code.
Pricing
Our pricing is simple: Free ($0, unlimited codes, editable per code for its first 50 scans, a small tangoqr mark on the image) or Pro ($10/month or $100/year for editing and detailed analytics on every code, no scan limit, and no tangoqr mark). Bitly's plans are tiered by feature and volume and change over time, so see Bitly's current pricing for their numbers rather than ours.
Who should stay with Bitly
Stay with Bitly if you need team workspaces, branded short-link domains, A/B-tested destinations, or deep marketing-platform integrations. Those are real Bitly strengths and TangoQR doesn't try to match them. We're the simple editable-QR option, not a link-management platform. If what you need is bulk creation or an API, though, you don't have to stay: on every plan, free included, TangoQR makes up to 1,000 codes at a time from a pasted list or a CSV, and includes a REST API for creating, updating and disabling codes, with signed scan webhooks.
