What happens to my printed QR codes if I stop paying?
With TangoQR, they keep working. Each code keeps sending people to the last link you set, on any plan, after you cancel. What you lose is the ability to change the link on a code that has passed 50 scans. With other providers the answer can be different, so check before you print.
The fear is a fair one. With some providers a printed code is live only while you pay: the trial ends or the card fails, and every sign and flyer opens a dead page or a payment screen. The answer is in each provider's terms. This is what happens with TangoQR.
What keeps working
- Every code keeps redirecting. The redirect does not check your plan. A code on a sign sends people to the last link you set.
- Your codes stay in your account. You can sign in, see them and download the images.
- Scans are still counted. Every code shows its total.
What stops
- A change to the link on a busy code. On the free plan, a code's link can be changed for its first 50 scans. A code past 50 scans stays on its last link until you are on Pro again.
- Scan detail on a busy code. Past 50 scans, a free code shows its total only. The detail is still recorded, and you see it again when you upgrade.
- Images without the mark. A new download of a code has a small "tangoqr" mark in the corner. Signs that are already printed do not change.
Before you cancel
Set each code to the link you want it to keep. A good choice is a page of your own, which you can update without a change to the code. Then cancel. The signs keep working.
If you come back
Upgrade again and every code can be changed again, with its scan history. Nothing is deleted when you cancel.
How to check another provider
Look on the pricing page and in the terms for two things: what happens to codes when a trial ends, and what happens when you cancel. If the words are "paused", "deactivated" or "inactive", your printed codes stop when you stop paying. Do QR codes expire? has more on this.
